January 14, 2017

The Studio, Manchester Royal Exchange Theatre

A brand new play with developed by award-winning UK playwright Lizzie Nunnery and Ukranian director Tamara Trunova, who makes her UK debut after being brought together to collaborate as part of the World Stages project. The piece features reworkings of Ukrainian and Russian folk songs.

The cupboards are bare and the night is full of fires, there are witches in the wood and the cities have new names... A little girl struggles for survival in a sinister fairytale landscape. As the soldiers overrun the villages, who knows what song to sing?
